Howdy, pal! I’m Rachel and I like to chat about my hometown of Austin, TX and related topics. Join us, if you’d like to discuss random little Texas things!
How is your week going? Did you do anything fun in this warm weather? I’m signing off for the next week for spring break with my kids, but before I go I thought I’d share a couple of my favorite potions for hydration.
I know we’re not anywhere near peak summer weather yet, but I’ve busted these out a few times when I need to be in the sun all day and they really help!
Coconut water + lime juice:
-Mix equal parts coconut water and lime juice*. Add a pinch of salt. Pour over crushed ice.
If you’d like to turn this one in to a mocktail, add some mineral water. It’s great to put in a YETI tumbler for the pool.
*I buy cold-pressed lime juice for this! It’s usually in the refrigerator section of your produce aisle.

Iced herbal tea:
-There are probably better ways to do this, but I just keep it simple and brew four tea bags in four cups of water, let it cool, then add four cups of cold water. This makes a big batch to store in the fridge.
My favorite flavors are peach and hibiscus flower but I’ll support you in brewing up any flavor of tea you like.

If you’re looking for something easy and from a package, I love Relyte. My friend Meg (who knows all the best food things) introduced me to it when I told her I was looking for something like Liquid IV but with less sugar.
Do you have any tried and true summer survival drinks? Please share!
Hope you have an excellent couple of weeks and that perhaps you spot an armadillo and/or eat a few bowls of queso.
xoxo
Rachel
Love the photo.
I needed this today (and the title is on point). What flavor re-lyte do y’all like?
