How was your week? Have you been enjoying this kind-of breezy weather?
Last night I went grocery shopping at HEB and was feeling sooooo drained. As I was slowly lugging my groceries into my trunk a woman walking with her husband/partner/boyfriend caught my eye from across the parking lot and shouted “I LOVE YOUR HAIR" and then she bellowed “IT LOOKS SO HEALTHY AND NICE!”.
This woman is my new role model. What a star. I think she knew I needed that!
Here are a few more cute Austin things for you:
I threw out a bunch of native wildflower seeds in my front yard last fall, and so many of these Indian Blankets sprang up! All of my dreams are coming true.
OK I think Wholy Bagel is the best bagel in Austin. There, I said it. I’m not from the East Coast, so take this with a grain of salt. I have eaten actual NYC bagels and though we couldn’t possibly replicate said bagels, these are very, very good. My husband was an angel and went splitzies with me and we did a savory/sweet thing. The left is everything bagel+jalapeno cream cheese, the right is blueberry+honey vanilla cream cheese, TOASTED because we’re not monsters.
Y’all, have you heard of a Texas Ringtail?! It’s a real thing! We caught this guy on our trail cam this week and we freaked out. I only learned about ringtails a few months ago. They’re nocturnal, so it’s rare to spot one!
We went on the Preservation Austin Home Tours last weekend and it was wonderful. This was my favorite home, by Emily Little who’s been an architect in Austin for years. Also, we brought along our three kids and all of the volunteers were so welcoming and sweet to them.
Leaving you with this.
Hope you have a really great week that perhaps includes the spotting of a rare animal or the eating of cream cheese.
Thanks so much for reading! I don’t have any big plans for this newsletter, but I’ve really enjoyed writing it these few months! Every heart, comment or email reply makes my day.
you're making me want to move to austin every damn week
I have gaillardia in my yard too!
