How have your past two weeks been? We’re in the middle of a simple bathroom remodel that, of course, turned less simple, so I couldn’t bring myself to post last week. Then! I went to LA for a couple days with my sister and our mutual best friend. I really love California but goodness gracious, it feels good to be home.
Here are a couple of cute Austin things for you:
Our neighbors invited us to go to Terry Black’s downtown which I have generally avoided because it seemed too touristy (I went to the original Black’s in Lockhart many times as a kid) and it was actually great. Yes, it was super busy but the line went by so fast and it felt like the original Black’s. We ate on the porch and at one point a grackle stole some mac and cheese right off of my friend’s plate. Classic Austin stuff. I ate my weight in brisket, ribs, potato salad and banana pudding and was the happiest gal.
I’ve been going to Barton Springs with my friends Melinda and Natalie for the past nine years semi-regularly. We don’t really swim laps—we mostly splash around and hoot and holler for an hour or so and catch up on life. We went for a dip this week and it was rejuvenating!
Melinda wins for best Barton Springs tote.
Speaking of totes, I think this may be my favorite piece of Austin merch I own. SOB.
You didn’t think I would end this without a Central Market reference, did you? Introducing the summer drink you didn’t know you needed: DRAGONFRUIT LIMEADE.

RIP Selena. Rip my heart out.
